For Patients

Preparing for your appointment

A little preparation makes a significant difference to what can be achieved in one consultation.

Bring the record of your health with you. Details of past investigations often prevent an unnecessary repeat test.

What to bring

Please arrive a little early to complete registration.

  • Your referral letter, if you have one
  • Identity document and medical aid card, with the main member's details
  • A complete list of your current medication, including doses
  • Previous ECGs, echocardiogram reports, stress tests or angiogram reports
  • Recent blood results, including cholesterol, kidney function and glucose
  • A written list of your questions and symptoms, with approximate dates

Before you come in

Take your usual medication unless you have been specifically instructed otherwise. If a stress test or a procedure has been booked, the practice will give you separate instructions about fasting and about medication such as blood thinners or diabetic tablets.

Wear or bring comfortable clothing and flat shoes if exercise testing is planned, and a two-piece outfit if an ECG or echocardiogram is expected.

Bringing someone with you

You are welcome to bring a family member or friend. A second person often remembers detail from the discussion.

Medical aid and accounts

Please contact the practice before your appointment for information about accounts and medical aid.

Questions before your visit?

The practice is happy to confirm what you need to bring or clarify instructions before an investigation.
